The Barmy Bog End Army » Bognor Away - FA Trophy » 21/10/2020 12:41 pm

Mike,
It looks as if tickets are still available ok,but I would say that when I booked mine yesterday the set up procedure was a right to do-you had to set up an account and this failed about 3 times before it completed.

Tough one for them as well-I think they will be surprised by quality of the opposition.

What a sad day yesterday was after hearing about Chris-I always sat next to him in the stand and had a laugh with him as the rest of us around the group did.It seemed the last few times that I had seen him his mind was elsewhere as he was not feeling great and a bit depressed. This was concerning and we wondered what had happened as we had not seen him for a few weeks.Chris really loved the club and put a lot of effort into assisting & raising money for Tooting.I and many others will miss you mate and if the team do well this season I will consider that to be a tribute to your 60 years of hope & effort.R.I.P Chris-condolences to all your family.

The Barmy Bog End Army » HANWELL TOWN Win » 17/11/2019 9:50 pm

It was a pity we had such a poor start to this game & disappointing first half display. Both teams missed a golden opportunity to score again before half time-however look at the difference  after the break-we totally dominated the play and should certainly have got a point.Hanwell could barely raise an attack but once again we are not agressive enough in front of goal.Personally,I think we are missing a trick here and have felt even from last season that Razzaq Coleman is the man to lead the attack in the centre-he is quick & skilful but as importantly extremely strong & very difficult to out muscle.I would like to see this formation given a go!

The Barmy Bog End Army » Billy Bush » 12/11/2019 3:15 pm

r That is really sad news about Billy-I only heard about his illness last week and how sick he was.I cannot believe the speed of things.I always enjoyed a chat with Bill-he had a good sense of humour and his family have lost a good hard working man whilst the club will miss a true supporter over such a huge period of time.R.I.P Bill-you will be truly missed.Condolences to his family.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Chats 2 Toots 3 » 16/8/2016 4:08 pm

Having watched the game yesterday it surprises me that nobody has mentioned the outstanding performance of Danny Bassett-absolutely immaculate. His ball control, hold up play and skill levels were really first rate.He must also be pretty fit as he made so many runs into good positions throughout the game. The team played very well trying to push forward from the off.Good stuff but must tighten up in defence as this game should have been comfortably closed down.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Palace U21 Friendly » 26/7/2016 9:27 am

The Ryman League website list of friendly fixtures shows we have a game on Saturday away to Walton Casuals-kick off 13-30.Is this correct?

The Barmy Bog End Army » Hastings » 22/2/2016 8:36 am

Hastings game.
The first 15 mins saw Hastings dominate, throwing everything forward. However, for the next 30 mins Tooting dominated, playing slick passing football and our midfield ground them down.Nevertheless, all about taking chances and once again we did not do so-should have been ahead. We played into the face of a very strong wind and I was impressed by our style.
Then we go into the 2nd half with the wind in our favour and things change, surprisingly, while we were not outplayed,we did not continue with the same drive as in the 1st half.Hastings improved considerably and 2 mistakes gave 2 goals away-the 1st trying to catch quick forwards in the offside trap & the 2nd a lazy crosscield pass, under no pressure and we were caught in possession. When you have quality finishers like Zac Attwood against you, there is no room for casual play.
I do feel that although the team has very good spirit and the standard of entertaining football has improved greatly,I still maintain that Frank's judgement of players is the most worrying concern.Serge did very litle during the game and how he & Matt Price can keep Leon on the bench I fail to understand-in the 9 mins Leon was allowed, his first 3 touches set up a scoring chance, won a free kick & then a corner.
I was in favour of Frank's appointment, but this is either him being obstinate or favouritism. He needs to wake up.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Leon Lalor-Dell » 10/11/2015 11:12 am

Not a good move in my opinion as we should be using his talent.I suppose if we are not going to do this,he needs to be getting some game time.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Tilbury Away » 02/11/2015 3:32 pm

A match that could have been won & at the very least should have been drawn! I'm afraid we fell for the sucker punch when their no 16 came on & proceeded to foul & aggravate everyone around him.He succeeded with Simeone, who let himself & the team down by giving him a clump in full view of the asst.ref.His departure obviously upset Netto who decided to kick their wide player into orbit-very sensible.Even with 9 men we did not seem likely to loose until Sol P.B. upended one of their forwards going away from goal in the penalty area-again vey sensible & goodbye to £3250.However,we did play pretty well apart from these 3 ridiculous passages of play.
I must say Tilbury FC were an absolute disgrace in the way, not only their supporters but particularly their bench(all of them) threw disgusting abuse at the young female asst. ref.It was sickening to hear them so aggresively insult & abuse her to put pressure on her-,just about sums them up.The referee, who I think was very wary of them, should have made it quite clear to their bench that it would not be tolerated.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Just my opinion...no bitterness!!! » 22/10/2015 2:19 pm

After the departure of Mark Hams, I watched I watched the 3 following games with some good feelings.Chipstead-very poor side but we played decent football-all that was needed to win.Hythe-very decent side-outclassed them with quality aggresive play-unluckily not the result we deserved.Hastings-a very good side with quality players and we were certainly matching them with entertaining play.I was pretty satisfied & thought this was a different style which may be the start of something better.
So what does Frank do-he drops Pinnock,Solako,Pykes & Alex.I am not the biggest fan of SolL but I must say his last performance (against Hythe) was absolutely superb.Curtis Pykes has been aggresive, playing well & driving the team forward.Michael Solako is a quickly developing quality forward and Alex is the no 1 choice in goal.Somebody said Leon could get overun in midfield-he should not be there as a ball winner-he is a quick very skilful player who can open defences & lay on quality ball for strikers.
I cannot understand why we are bringing in substandard makeshift players instead of developing what we have. Please let's forget about a front pairing of Jamie & Jake.
I know Frank is inexperienced but I believe his illogical thinking has possibly lost the current player's support.

The Barmy Bog End Army » HYTHE 2 TOOTING 1 » 14/10/2015 8:29 am

Not a miserable journey back from Hythe-for the first time this season I was very pleased with what I saw from Tooting. After a somewhat wasted first half in which we let them dominate but defended very well, only an unfortunate mistake by Simeone gifted Sawyer his first goal.
The 2nd half was a revelation-we played superb football nearly all on the floor & outplayed Hythe to such an extent that they could hardly leave their half.We attacked them continuously & aggressively, scored a tremendous equaliser and it honestly seemed only a matter of time before we took all the points.
Make no mistake,Hythe have been drilled into a well organised team but our level of skill was so much higher as their supporters testified.Once again, sadly,we were caught out by a ball over the top as we were, perhaps,a little too eager to get forward down the left and Sawyer was left clear to score a simple goal.
Every player contributed so well and I was heartened particularly by the performance of Sol Pinnock who showed just what he is capable of.Incidentally, the new coach seemed very animated & aware of what was going on.Well done-if we keep going in this vein,we are definately on the right track.
Finally, please do not continue to waste Leon's talent sitting on the bench.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Toots 1 Brackley 3 » 29/9/2015 8:41 am

The team gave a good aacount of themselves against Brackley-Management not so good. How anybody can say Brackley were a very good team is beyond me-I thought they looked likely to be relegation contenders.
Their no 9 was totally naive and caught offside repeatedly not looking across the line and their football lacked any sparkle. They did not look particularly threatening & we probably created as many chances as they did.
I agree it was a missed opportunity-but  why? Did it occur to Frank & Mark that every ball pumped forward in the air to our small forwards came straight back.We did not win one aerial challenge until Michael Solako was introduced & he won his first contest.I think I will give up talking about the necessity to play Leon from the start-make the most of his or you may not have him for long.
I agree with the assessment of Brendan-very good player who just needs to use his skills in the right areas-giving the ball away in wrong areas cost us Saturday & also similarly at Whitstable with Serge.
However, overall I was very pleased with the effort & commitment shown by the team.

The Barmy Bog End Army » T&M 2 Farnham Town 1 » 14/9/2015 8:22 am

Michael Solako given another fair chance-5 minutes.Leon Lalor Dell wasted on the bench after being loaned to Redhill for a couple of weeks-amazing.Let's remember the quality of opposition last Saturday and assess the performance truthfully.I can't believe the forward line-up in our team-2 very small forwards will not do the job.We now have some important away fixtures and if we do not take a good points tally from these, our situation in the league would look to be very disappointing.

The Barmy Bog End Army » Carshalton » 08/9/2015 12:13 pm

Overall Carshalton dererved to win the game-they created a lot more chances. The good points-I thought we defended well & look to be building strongly in that area.I thought Simeone was first class and looks exceptional in recent games. My undoubted man of the match was Billy Marsall, who gave everything, was involved in all aspects as both a ball winner & creative midfielder. The team seems to have quite a lot of talent.& when Leon is fit I hope it is realised by Frank & Mark that he should be first on the team sheet. The thing that I was most disappointed with, was how the first half was wasted because of team selection. It was obvious we had no pace or height up front while Michael Salako sat on the bench throughout the whole game.I like Jamie Byatt-he gives his all but if we think that forward line up will make us a major force in the league,I feel this is a complete mistake. Finally,I thought Curtis looked very dynamic & attack minded when he came on but I do wonder for how much longer Sol Pinnock will be an automatic starting choice on his current form-he seems to have lost pace & ability to take defenders on.

The Barmy Bog End Army » T&M 0 Corinthian Casuals 3 » 12/8/2015 9:31 am

LAST NIGHT THE PERFORMANCE WAS POOR-BUT THIS CAN BE PUT RIGHT.HOWEVER,WHAT WORRIED ME BEFORE BOTH THE EAST GRINSTEAD & CASUALS GAMES WAS THE NON INCLUSION OF LEON L.DELL.WHEN A PLAYER OF HIS ABILITY TO RUN AT DEFENCES & GIVE ACCURATE PASSES TO CREATE OPENINGS IS LEFT ON THE BENCH UNTIL THE LAST 30 MINUTES OF A GAME,I DO WONDER ABOUT THE MANAGERIAL FORESIGHT.WE WATCHED TJ & SOL CONSTANTLY HAVING POOR FIRST TOUCHES ON THE BALL & BLASTING ANY CHANCES WE DID HAVE INTO OBLIVION.
I DO FEEL SORRY WE WERE UNABLE TO SIGN ATKINS(EX FOLKESTONE) FOR WHATEVER REASON-IF IT  WAS ABOUT MONEY,SOMETIMES THE BUDGET USED FOR A COUPLE OF PLAYERS IS BETTER SPENT FOR ONE MORE EFFECTIVE.IT IS ALL ABOUT OPINIONS.
WATCH OUT FOR MICHAEL SOLAKO-PACEY & CLEVER.I HOPE THEY PERSEVERE WITH HIM.
