Pssst Ev, keep it to yourself, don't tell everybody

Even from my remote location in deepest darkest Ashford I can understand where Dave is coming from.  As you're probably aware I've spent a lot of this last season down at Homelands watching both Ashford United and Kennington FC (a division below Ashford).

The ground is a proper old school non-league ground, albeit with a past its sell by date plastic pitch (due to be ripped up in a major ground re-vamp duringthe summer break), a really good and welcoming bar, great friendly stewards and officials, a superb paper programme (by both clubs) and as Dave mentioned, proper football food, none of this jerk this and spiced that nonsense, and the toilets are always clean and fit for use before the match.

I wonder, do TripAdvisor have a section for football grounds? Perhaps a few critiques on there might jog someone's conscience? ...... but then again, probably not.

Without Andy Harrup going round the loos pre-match to check there was actually toilet rolls in the loos nobody else from the staff would've bothered !

TOTAL SHAMBLES !!

The Owner, Chairman, the majority of the "Members Club" (exceptions being Lynn & Keith), and the entire Management Team should hang their heads in shame and resign en masse NOW !!

An affront to the volunteers and loyal fans who have all been stabbed in the back.

I'm afraid it's already decided, relegation is guaranteed!! This joke of a club's Owner, Secretary, Chairman, Manager & Coaches and Members Club just couldn't give a $h1t anymore.
I'm so glad that I'm no longer a part of the Members Club so can't be tarred by the same appalling brush that they're currently painting themselves with.
As ever I feel so sorry for all the poor fans and long serving volunteers that pay their hard earned cash to suffer the dreadful crap that's served up on match days.
Members Club Directors, hang your heads in shame, resign en-mass and let the Owner get on with it, you've obviously got no power or influence over what happens to the club or you'd have demanded the sacking of the entire management and coaching team months ago in an attempt to get this once great Club back on track.

Tonight's result is an afront to all the hard working volunteers that keep that club running.

Without them the management and ownership would have nothing.

Change is needed NOW !!

Surely enough is enough and the whole management setup and the ethos of the youth policy needs to change NOW !!!
The club are entrenched in the two relegation places now and looking at the forthcoming fixtures I can only see a further downward spiral into oblivion.
Part of me wishes that I was still on the board of the 'members club' in order to try to effect sort of change but on the other hand I'm very glad that I no longer am, and I feel extremely sorry for the likes of Keith and Lynn who have done nothing but good for the club for decades but are now getting slapped in the face for their efforts.

As you probably know, until I saw the light and moved away from the dregs of Croydon to the country (one of the best things we've ever done) I was a Director of T&MUFC Members Ltd aka "the Members Club" and obviously considered to be a part of the club's establishment. I attended many "board" meetings and was always frustrated by the attitude of certain other persons involved in these meetings, the hype and enthusiasm for the way the club was being run being one particular bugbear of mine.

Don't get me wrong but I was originally honoured to be asked to serve the "Members" and the football club in general but towards the end I was pleased to be able to walk away. I thoroughly enjoyed being the programme editor for 5 years or so and also had good times working with Ian Bullock (a really great, knowledgeable nice man) on producing 2 great books (both of which sold out and injected some good money into the "Members" funds), and for a couple of years I also assisted Keith Kelly in a small way with the Boardroom hospitality, Keith being the ultimate unsung hero of the backroom volunteers.

However, now domiciled from afar and being aware of what went on to a certain degree behind the scenes I can only concurr with those of you that can see where the football club is headed i.e. down the toilet and round the U bend !!

Ashley is a really nice bloke, as was Cornelius before him, but the time has now come for a radical shake up of the whole organisation from the top down.

Far too much emphasis is put upon "the Members Club" to constantly raise funds to keeper the football club's budget at the already meagre level it's currently at. This obviously makes one think that the owner just can't be bothered to divert any more funds from the other money making enterprises within the whole "sports & leisure" empire into the football club. Basically it obviously doesn't matter anymore and unless "the Members" can raise the cash the club will fail and guess who'll be to blam

Also noticed that Josh Shattell has signed on a scholarship at Derby County FC.

Apparently Josh had been with the club since he started with the Kickers, went through the Youth set-up and U23's and got involved with the 1st team too (although I don't ever remember him making any appearances (Goalkeeper).

Another lad nurtured by the club and then moved on (by an agent?) without seeing any proper service with the club.

Good luck to the lad but how much did it cost the club to get him this far? ..... and undoubtedly as he's gone for a scholarship Tooting will get nothing back for all the effort.

I understand that there's a "Members Club" AGM coming up soon, and ive been mentioned in despatches, so to speak. I was even presented with a momento for services prior to my resignation too. Quite touched by that.
Be interesting to hear about any goings on though..... if any 😄 from the meeting as a whole.

Oh dear 😳

Still awaiting a 100% firm date but it's looking very much like it'll be the middle of next week for the move.
I'm really looking forward now to watching a better standard of non-league football down at Ashford United, at least they challenged for promotion last season. Downside is we're going to have to go to Canterbury for our County Cricket fix now 😑
